In NY people can’t use vouchers bc: - landlords don’t want to take them EVEN THOUGH it’s $ for them, and EVEN THOUGH NY has source of income protection. They care more abt having absolute power over tenants than $. - there aren’t enough vouchers. to go around anyway … (1/3)

One of the reasons that housing voucher holders are unable to use those vouchers is because the value of their vouchers has not kept up with rapid rent increases. 1/

But most of all: renters don’t really like them! the experience of having a voucher can be stabilizing, but more often it is demoralizing, forces you to make choices to stay in subpar housing or w in no-to-low income employment, etc. (2/3)
